Holistic Therapies We Offer

The symptoms you’re facing are an important element of your mental health recovery, but they’re not the only aspect of your experience. At Red Top Wellness Center, we believe that you’re more than your diagnosis, and our treatment approach reflects that.

Holistic therapies complement traditional ones in every treatment plan at Red Top Wellness Center, based on the activities that most resonate with you. These methods are baked into your daily schedule in residential care, filling your time around individual and group therapy sessions.

Red light therapy, which is one option for holistic mental health treatment offered by Red Top Wellness Center.

Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy emits specific wavelengths of visible red and near-infrared light in short, scheduled sessions to stimulate cellular function. These sessions are popularly used for skin health and muscle recovery, but are also being studied for mental health applications.

At Red Top Wellness Center, our red light therapy room offers comfortable seating in front of a large red light panel for full-body treatment. Our team is trained in administering red light therapy and will guide you through the whole process.

Biosound Therapy

Biosound therapy is a multisensory activity that delivers low-frequency vibrations through a specially-built table, guided imagery, and music. During a session, you’ll lay on the biosound therapy table while a trained therapist initiates the vibrations, music, and imagery. Throughout the process, the therapist will monitor your physiological responses (i.e., your heart rate) to the external stimuli.

Research on biofeedback approaches in mental health is still developing, but it’s believed to support stress reduction and emotional wellbeing.

Sound healing therapy, which is one option for holistic mental health treatment offered by Red Top Wellness Center.

Sound Healing Therapy

Sound healing therapy uses singing bowls, gongs, chimes, and other sustained tones in a guided session, usually while you lie down with your eyes closed. It’s one of our calmer offerings and it functions mostly as a way to practice stillness.

Sound healing can help if you feel physically tense or are trying to calm racing thoughts. This can be especially helpful after talk therapy sessions, which are sometimes mentally taxing, especially when they’re focused on processing difficult emotions.

Music Therapy

Music can be highly beneficial for emotional regulation, giving you a way to express what you’re feeling without having to talk about it. Our facility has a dedicated music room where you can play, write songs, or just listen to our wide variety of musical instruments.

Our music room is just one space in the facility where you can spend your free time in between sessions, but it’s a favorite for those who feel drawn to and relaxed by musical expression.

Recreational Activities

Recreation restores a normal rhythm to your day in a setting with no clinical agenda, which gives your body the rest it needs to regulate sleep and mood.

At Red Top Wellness Center, we incorporate recreation time into your daily schedule to give you a break from the hard work of recovery. Our facility offers outdoor games, an on-site gym where you can exercise, and other activities to help you unwind in between sessions.

The Benefits of Holistic Therapy for Mental Health

Holistic mental health treatment is important for comprehensively addressing what you’re going through, because your symptoms are only one part of your experience. Complementary therapies go beyond traditional sessions and medication, providing a well-rounded treatment plan.

Call our team to learn more about how holistic therapies can support your journey to recovery.

Skill-Building

Holistic therapies give you an opportunity to practice essential coping skills, like slowing your breathing or settling your attention. These skills will be invaluable when you return to your regular routines and the stressors of daily life.

Non-Verbal Processing

Talk therapy is a cornerstone of mental health treatment, but it can ask a lot of you emotionally. Holistic therapies can help you express something before you can explain it, or process the feelings that talk therapy brings up.

Physical Wellbeing

Certain mental health conditions, like anxiety and depression, show up physically. If you’re dealing with disrupted sleep, an alert nervous system, or other physical symptoms, holistic therapy may help you calm them.

Peer Connection

While you will have opportunities to connect with peers through group therapy sessions, it can be helpful to interact with others outside of a clinical setting. Holistic therapies allow you to engage with others in fun and meaningful ways.

Frequently Asked Questions About Holistic Mental Health Treatment

Do you have more questions about holistic therapies? Call our team! We’re happy to answer any questions you may have about what a day in residential treatment looks like, whether you’re curious about our traditional methods or the complementary therapies we offer in between.

Holistic therapies are part of our treatment program at Red Top Wellness Center, and we encourage you to try it before deciding it isn’t for you.

That being said, every aspect of your treatment plan will be tailored to your needs and preferences, including the complementary therapies we schedule for you. If your primary therapist doesn’t feel you’d be a good candidate for one of these approaches, or if you feel uncomfortable with trying it, we’ll adjust your care plan accordingly.

No, holistic therapies never replace traditional methods or medication regimens. In fact, they’re commonly referred to as “complementary therapies,” because they’re meant to support the work done in traditional therapy sessions rather than replace it.

We always present holistic therapies as a supplement to your care plan, and never as an alternative to the care your primary therapist has recommended.

No, you don’t have to be experienced in the activity to participate in it when you arrive at our facility. In fact, we expect that many people come to our facility having never heard of certain modalities, like red light therapy or biosound therapy. These offerings are simply meant to make your time in our treatment program more enjoyable and effective, and there’s no pressure to “perform well” or to be knowledgeable about the therapeutic model.

These therapies are part of the residential program, so coverage follows your coverage for residential treatment. Our team can verify your insurance benefits and tell you what your plan covers before you commit to treatment at our facility. Just call our team with your insurance card nearby, and we’ll handle the rest!
